LGU - Tacurong launched anew its Business One Stop Shop

In its continued quest to provide a business-friendly environment, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacurong City set up anew its Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) program.

The BOSS is a system on which all the government agencies involved in the processing of business permits are gathered in one area inside the city hall. Business owners or operators will then have an easy time processing their business permit application or renewal because they need not go to the offices of the said agencies to have their permits cleared or processed.

For the LGU, the departments directly participating in the One Stop Shop are the City Treasury Office, the Licensing Section under the Office of the City Mayor, City Environment and Natural Resources, City Engineering Office and the Office for City Health Services.

Meanwhile, the national line agencies that are involved in the One Stop Shop are the Social Security System, Philhealth, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Department of Trade and Industry. Each agency details one or more representative at the venue for the whole duration of the One Stop Shop.

A major advantage the BOSS brings to the business owners is the fact that the national line agencies mentioned above are far away located in different places within the city (Philhealth Satellite Office is in Isulan), so processing would definitely be taxing and time-consuming.

The LGU has started implementing the BOSS for several years already and since then generated a positive impact to the business community.

City Administrator Eduardo Nicolo said that statistics showed that prior to the BOSS, a business owner would spend three days to one week to process his business permit. But at the advent of the BOSS, it would take a business owner less than a day for the processing.

Arthur Paclibar, an Internet CafĂ© owner and a client of the BOSS for some years already, said that compared to the previous years, availing of the One Stop Shop really expedites processing of permits. “By the speed of the renewal of my permit took, I’m quite satisfied with the process”, he said.

Mr. Nicolo, meanwhile, reminded the business owners that the BOSS is being conducted in the first month of every year. “After January, the City Treasury Office will impose penalties to late renewals”, he said. (Allan Freno, Information Officer))
