NSO, LGU Tacurong signs MOA for use of Philippine Civil Registry Information System

8 January 2014 – The year started accordingly for the city government as the Local Civil Registry Office will acquire the Philippine Civil Registry Information System (PhilCRIS) through the Memorandum of Agreement signed at the Conference Room of the City Mayor’s Office last Wednesday.

PhilCRIS is an updated software in Windows version available for use by the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) of the LGUs that will deliver civil registry information management and data in a new, more convenient and user-friendly way. It enables the LGU to print preview and print directly to the new civil registry forms, encode relevant information, store vital data, generate transmittal files, and retrieve encoded records.

City Civil Registrar Josephine A. Balino in her opening statement said that this new software would not be applied randomly but gradually in order to render better, if not the best services to the people of Tacurong.
Under the said Memorandum, the LGU is given authorization to use the PhilCRIS free-of-charge in accordance with the rules and regulations set out for its purpose. Atty. Maqtahar L. Manulon, Regional Director of National Statistics Office – Region XII, also said this advantage of PhilCRIS in his message. The computer system, designed by NSO for the LGUs, grants license on its use free-of-charge on the condition that it is not disassembled, decompiled, or reengineered. He further expressed his thanks to the LGU for its support to the programs of NSO, sharing that this is for the benefit of all Tacurongnons.

The concluding portion of the MOA signing was done through an acceptance message by Tacurong City Mayor Lina O. Montilla. “This marks another milestone for the city of Tacurong,” she said as she conveyed her sincerest appreciation. Hon. Montilla further added, “The city government will always be in support of the programs of NSO for I am certain that this is for the betterment of the community.”

Also present in the ceremonial signing of the MOA as witnesses were Jurilyn P. Abraham (representative of Rafael T. Sambrano, MBA from PSO-NSO Sultan Kudarat), Josephine A. Balino (City Civil Registrar), Nenita G. Albito (City Human Resource and Management Officer), Atty. Benjamin P. Fajardo, Jr. (Sangguniang Panlungsod), and Rosita B. Leabris (Municipal Civil Registrar, LGU-Esperanza). (Ariesha Faith M. Dimaano – LGU Information)
