Seventeen couples were beaming after their free civil and church weddings sponsored by LGU-Tacurong on December 18, 2012.
The Kasalang Bayan 2012 accommodated 9 couples for a church wedding in Nuestra Señora dela Candelaria Parish, and 8 couples for a civil wedding at the city hall facilitated by Mayor Lina O. Montilla.
The LGU had been organizing the Kasalang Bayan annually since 2005. The City Planning and Development Coordinating Office and the City Civil Registry Office spearheaded the said project to help unmarried couples who are living together to legalize their union as husband and wife. Included in the free wedding package are: church and seminar fees, sponsor fees, CENOMAR fees, meals and snacks during baptism and wedding day, and decorations.
The LGU publicly announced the Kasalang Bayan through radio and by sending invitations to barangays. Couples were pre-listed at the Civil Registry Office from October 10-November 30.
